Six statewide ballot propositions have now qualified for the ballot in California for elections in 2026. The latest to be approved: one would establish a second mortgage homeownership loan program, while the other would require a two-thirds vote by the electorate to enact special local taxes initiated by voters. The California State Legislature also referred two measures to the ballot—an amendment that would eliminate the successor election at a state officer recall election and a law that would authorize public financing for state and local campaigns.
