Work is now underway at the former Dragon’s Lair site in downtown Ukiah as Mendocino College moves forward with early preparations for its planned student housing project at the corner of Perkins and Main Streets. The property, purchased in February 2025 with support from the Mendocino College Foundation and its donors, represents the first phase of a long-term effort to expand affordable housing options for students. The project aims to improve student stability, support academic success, and help address the region’s broader housing shortage. Due to the presence of hazardous materials, the city says strict environmental and safety regulations are being followed.
