
Utility scams are still hitting customers across the North Coast, and Humbolt County is no exception. Pacific Gas and Electric Company says more than 100 scam attempts were reported locally in 2025, while statewide reports have topped 21,000 with nearly $300,000 lost. Scammers often pressure customers by threatening immediate power shutoffs. PG&E says customers should hang up, slow down, and verify their account directly if something feels off.
