Lake County has a new Public Works Director. Lars Ewing will head up the newly consolidated Public Works Department –all Divisions formerly aligned with the
County’s Public Works and Public Services Department.s Ewing had been serving in Public Works and Public Services leadership since June 17, 2025. Tuesday’s action by
the Board of Supervisors made that appointment permanent by reclassifying the Public Works Director position to encompass the full complement of roles in which Director
Ewing has already been serving. H will oversee key functions of the Public Works Department, including road maintenance, engineering, and capital improvement
projects. The newly reorganized Public Works Department also includes functions previously under the former Public Services Department, including parks and
recreation, solid waste management, county facilities, and museum services. Ewing was born and raised in Lake County and graduated from the United States Air Force
Academy with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is also a licensed Civil Engineer.
