A broken sewer pipe has led to a local emergency declaration. According to reports, a broken pipe in Clear Lake caused raw sewage to flow into Clear Lake and Burns Valley Creek on Sunday. Officials say malfunctioning valves caused the spill to continue for nearly 40 hours, affecting approximately 60 homes. The City Council ratified an emergency declaration in response to the spill at Thursday’s council meeting. Council members noted frustration at the absence of Lake County Special District Director Robin Borre from Wednesday’s town hall meeting. As clean up continues, officials urged anyone in the affected area who needs information or support to call the Lake County Special Districts at 707-263-0119.
