Cleanup work continues at the major sewage spill in Clearlake. The 16-inch pipe that broke on Sunday night has been fixed, and no more sewage is leaking into the ground, so now workers have been out mopping up in the area of Robin Lane. That includes putting down natural lime to absorb the mess and decontaminate the ground. They’re also treating the area with a plant-based disinfectant cleaner commonly used in water damage restoration. Officials will also test wells in the area as they continue to tell people nearby with private wells to use bottled water. IF you need water assistance, you can contact the Lake County Special Services District. County officials say updates will continue as testing and cleanup move forward. The county board of supervisors has adopted two emergency proclamations related to the spill. Supervisor Bruno Sabbatier says the response to the spill took too long after it was first reported Sunday night, and that the County is doing all it can to help the around 60 residents in the immediate area of the spill
