A small wildfire northeast of Willits brought a large response Tuesday evening after flames flared up inside a prescribed burn area near Laytonville. CAL FIRE says the fire started around 5:15pm within the Shamrock Vegetation Management Project and burned roughly 2.4 acres before crews stopped it from spreading outside containment lines. Helicopters, air tankers, and firefighters were all sent to the remote area as a precaution. Officials say no homes were threatened, and crews planned to monitor the fire through the night.
