
One of Mendocino County’s best-known redwood destinations is getting even bigger. Save the Redwoods League says it has transferred more than 450 acres of forest land into Montgomery Woods State Natural Reserve, helping expand the park by roughly 16 percent. The property includes redwoods, oak woodland and streams that support salmon habitat. Conservation leaders say newer state laws are now making it easier and faster to grow California’s park system through projects like this one.
