A sign that wildfire season is getting closer. PG&E cut power to thousands of Northern California residents over the weekend as high winds and dry weather sparked red flag warnings. More than 4,600 customers across 15 counties were impacted by the public safety power shutoffs. Locally, only a handful of Lake County customers near the Sonoma County line, southwest of Cobb, were affected. Crews were busy Sunday night at a small fire that covered a little more than an acre, northeast of Inglenook in Mendocino County, with smoke visible from Laytonville. It was contained and cleared by early this morning, according to Watch Duty.com. Winds will weaken by this evening and transition to more gentle terrain, but conditions will remain very dry with high temperatures increasing to near 90 for the interior by Thursday.
