A long-discussed Grocery Outlet project in Fort Bragg is finally moving from planning to construction. Crews started work in late April on the new 16,000-square-foot store along South Franklin Street, with an opening now expected in April 2027. City leaders say the project will bring more affordable grocery shopping to the area while breathing new life into a vacant commercial site. The development faced years of legal fights before eventually winning approval from the California Coastal Commission. Officials say temporary sound barriers will also be used to help protect nearby neighborhoods from construction noise.
