The Mendocino County Prescribed Burn Association is offering a chance to learn about fire behavior in local vegetation types and how to become a member of a prescribed burn team. The meeting on April 25th is a joint effort with the Humboldt PBA. It starts at 9 AM at Tan Oak Park in Legett, and overnight camping is available on the 24th. Topics include fire operations, tools and gear used in prescribed burns, weather, and radio communications. There is a broadcast burn planned for Sunday, 8 miles south of Tan Oak Park on the Tenmile Creek Forest Health Project. Class members will be able to join the burn to put their new skills to work.
