California’s governor’s race is getting crowded, and now a little clearer after a big debate this week. Six candidates took the stage Wednesday night in San Francisco, with Republicans Steve Hilton and Chad Bianco facing off against Democrats Katie Porter, Xavier Becerra, Tom Steyer, and San Jose Mayor Matt Mahan. The shake-up comes after Congressman Eric Swalwell dropped out over sexual assault allegations, opening the door for the rest of the field. Right now, Democrats still don’t have a clear leader, and candidates are trying to separate themselves early.
