A bill that aims to further protect California’s kids from online predators is closer to becoming a law. Senate Bill 1015, known as the Protecting Our Children From Online Extortion Act, was introduced by Republican State Senator Tony Strickland of Huntington Beach. This week, it was passed unanimously by members of the Senate Public Safety Committee, after receiving bipartisan support. The legislation focuses on predatory online networks that target minors through gaming sites, social media, and messaging apps.
