If you stay overnight in Point Arena, it could soon cost a little more. The city council has voted to put a measure on the November ballot that would raise the lodging tax by 2 percent, pushing the total to 15 percent. Leaders say that could bring in about $36,000 more a year to help cover the cost of serving visitors. But not everyone is on board, with some local business owners concerned higher taxes could drive tourists elsewhere.
