The California Department of Motor Vehicles is introducing new technology aimed at improving security and speeding up service.  New driver’s licenses will include a high-tech barcode on the back that can verify digital signatures and help combat identity fraud.  Officials say the upgrade comes as identity theft continues to rise, with hundreds of thousands of cases reported in California.  The DMV is also launching a QR code check-in system that allows customers to sign in online or upon arrival and get alerts when their turn is approaching, a move aimed at reducing wait times and improving efficiency at offices statewide.
