Mendocino County voters could soon be asked to help fund road repairs through a new sales tax. The Board of Supervisors voted 4–1 last week to move forward with a proposal that would place a 1-cent sales tax increase on the November ballot. Transportation officials say the measure could bring in roughly $5.5 to $6 million a year to repair more than 300 miles of county roads. A recent poll suggests about two-thirds of voters support the idea, which is the margin needed for the tax to pass.
