Lake County officials are reshaping part of county government with a new department merger. The Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to combine the Public Works and Public Services departments into one Public Works department with about 110 employees. Leaders say the consolidation should improve efficiency and save the county about $235,000. They also stressed that no layoffs are planned and residents should not see any reduction in services.
