Heavy rain is causing major travel headaches across Mendocino County. Caltrans has closed part of Highway 1 between Point Arena and Manchester because of flooding on the Garcia River, and Highway 175 in Hopland is also underwater from U.S. 101 to McDowell Street. The Russian River hit flood stage Tuesday and is forecast to rise even higher, with a flood warning in effect through this morning. There’s no timeline yet for reopening, so officials are urging drivers to avoid the area and check road conditions before heading out.
