Governor Newsom wants the state to prepare for the economic impact of AI. He’s signed an executive order directing government, business, and education leaders to collect data and identify early warning signs of disruptions caused by AI. That data could then help write policies to help workers who’ve lost their jobs to AI, and strategies to help workers and businesses plan for the future. Newsom says it’s important to stay ahead of developments in the rapidly changing technology–and protect jobs while at the same time not slowing progress in the field.
