Charges have now been filed in the death of longtime former Covelo Fire Chief Bill Baker, who was killed in a crash last fall in Round Valley. Prosecutors say 21-year-old Sandra Yocselin Acosta Deloera of Covelo is accused of felony hit-and-run after allegedly striking Baker on Highway 162 and failing to stop. Investigators later tracked down the vehicle and suspect at a residence the same night Baker died. Acosta Deloera has pleaded not guilty, and the case is set to return to court June 2.
