California leaders are shutting down reports that driver’s license data is being shared with federal immigration officials. The governor’s office says that’s simply not true and that the Real ID system doesn’t track immigration status at all. They also say federal agencies don’t have access to that information. State officials add the database doesn’t even include addresses, pushing back hard on those concerns.
