There could be a new twist in the debate over the future of the Scot and Cape Horn Dams along the Eel River. The San Francisco Chronicle reports that the Trump administration is studying a proposal that would have the Elsinore Valley Municipal Water District in Southern California buy and continue to operate the dams. That would run against plans by PG&E to remove the dams as part of its decommissioning of the Potter Valley Hydro project. There’s a negative reaction from local stakeholders. They question why a water utility hundreds of miles away would want to invest in aging and money-losing infrastructure. Congress, an Jared Huffman is also questioning the proposal, which was first raised by U S Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins in a post on “X”, with few details about how it would happen.
