A big step forward for one of the largest trail projects in the country is happening this weekend in Ukiah. State Senator Mike McGuire will help open a new section of the Great Redwood Trail, which will eventually run more than 300 miles through Northern California. The project turns old rail lines into paths for walking, biking and exploring some pretty scenic areas. There’s also a 3-mile run or walk Sunday morning before the ribbon cutting at 10am. The event starts on Airport Road, and parking will be free.
