If you’ve ignored that jury summons in Mendocino County, you may have to explain it to the judge. Superior Court Judge Judge Keith Faulder is holding a hearing next week for 60 randomly selected repeat jury duty scofflaws, who will have to answer why they didn’t show up when summoned. The court says complance to jury duty notices is so low that some trials have been put off because there aren’t enough potential jurors. Look for monthly compliance checks from now on for people to tell the judge WHY they have ignored the summons. If you don’t answer after that, you could be ordered to–with a $1,500 fine if you don’t. The court says if you show up for jury duty, you are off the hook for at least the next 12 months
