California is now under a first-of-its-kind executive order on AI. Governor Gavin Newsom issued the order on Monday. It requires safety and privacy guardrails from artificial intelligence companies that contract with the state. California was also the first state to pass a law mandating safety and transparency from the largest AI companies.
