Ukiah Unified will cut nearly two dozen jobs next school year after the school board approved staffing reductions Thursday night. District leaders say falling enrollment and the loss of grant funding, including a federal mental health grant, forced the decision. Enrollment has dropped by just over 100 students in the past year, shrinking the funding that follows those students. While officials say some eliminated jobs were already vacant, the move still means fewer teachers and support staff in the 2026 – 27 school year.
