
Violent crime in Mendocino County is down, but other lesser crimes are still keeping sheriff’s deputies busy. That’s the takeaway from Sheriff Matt Kendal’s report to the County Board of Supervisors. There were just two homicides in the county last year, which the sheriff calls one of the most significant trends he’s seen in his 35 years in law enforcement. But the sheriff says his deputies are dealing with more cases of petty theft, organized burglaries, and cybercrime.
