California Water Service is giving over 186-thousand dollars in grants to nine fire departments this year as part of its Firefighter Grant Program. The grants help fire departments buy emergency equipment and supplies like emergency medical tools, ventilation fans, and gas detectors. Some of the fire departments getting grants include Bakersfield, Chico, Los Angeles County, Salinas, and Stockton. Cal Water says the grants come from charitable giving and do not raise customer water bills.
