PG&E says your electric and gas bills should go down starting in January. The company says an average customer will see about a 3.4 percent decrease in the next billing cycle. They say the drop is due to costs that have been taken out of the utility’s rate base–the amount used to calculate charges. More of those charges related to Wildfire mitigation are expected to come off the books in the spring, meaning even lower rates. But—PG&E says several pending cases are in front of state regulators that could cause bills to go the other way, so don’t spend that extra 20 bucks or so off your bill in one place.
