Mendocino County deputies are still trying to identify an elderly woman who died after she was swept into the ocean by a large wave. Deputies were called to the MacKerricher Beach area around 2 PM Monday, where witnesses reported they saw the woman standing on a rock when a wave knocked her into the water. Bystanders managed to pull her out and get her back to shore, but she became unconscious. First Responders could not revive her. The woman was apparently alone at the beach. She is described only as a white woman in her 70s, and she had no ID or personal documents with her. Investigators say there are no signs of anything suspicious.
