A guilty verdict for a man from Willits on charges of attempted murder and assault. Jason Omhalt was convicted in Mendocino County Court on Wednesday for attacking another person outside the Sherwood Valley Casino in March. Police later found and arrested Omhalt hiding under a bed inside the casino hotel. A hearing later this month will determine if Omhalt will face additional punishment under the state’s three strikes law for two earlier convictions for robbery and assault on a peace officer in Humboldt County. When he’s sentenced, Omhalt could get 39 years to life.
