The public comment period for PG&E’s plan to give up its Potter Valley license has been extended. Lake Co News reports the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has given locals more time to weigh in on the hydroelectric project license until 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19th. It was set for December 1st. The energy company has owned the project since 1930 but in July submitted required paperwork to surrender the project and a plan for it to be taken offline. It could take up to two years for the application process to be complete, but if PG&E gets its way, the Cape Horn and Scott dams will also be removed. Opponents say they have not been involved in the discussion since it started years ago and say it will be a major loss and will impact the environment.
