America has lots of strange and wonderful roadside attractions. A major lifestyle website says you don’t have to go far to see one of the best: HGTV.com says a Glass Beach near Fort Bragg is one of the most interesting roadside attractions in the County. The website has drawn up a list of what it calls –must-see attractions in all 50 states. And Glass Beach represents California. The unique beach features a mosaic of sea glass from both natural and man-made sources. Some of the glass comes from an old dump that used to be on the site that has been polished and smoothed by the waves crashing ashore over the years. Fort Bragg tourism says while it encourages visits to the local treasure, which is technically part of MacKerricher State Park, it is “touch but don’t take” any of the colorful glass if you go, because a lot has been taken as a souvenir in the past several years.
