The National Weather Service has issued a beach hazard warning today along the Mendocino Coast. The service is asking people to avoid steep beaches, rocks and jetties. Officials warn that large objects like logs can be moved by the waves, crushing people and pets that get caught underneath.
Today’s warning is in place from 11 this morning until 11 tonight.

The Ukiah Daily Journal says the criminal charges were not only dismissed against Cubbison, by Superior Court Judge Moorman, she also described Cubbison as a whistleblower. Tuesday’s ruling ended a 2 years long, high-profile case, which accused District Attorney David Eyster of targeting Cubbison, after she challenged the way his office was spending money. The decision was an emotional victory for Cubbison and co-defendant Paula June Kennedy, the county’s former payroll manager, and the attorneys who represented them. Now that she is free from criminal charges, her attorneys will push for her to resume her position as the elected Mendocino County Auditor/Controller/Treasurer/Tax Collector.

The Ukiah City Council will have staff work on updating the city’s code to more effectively address illegal parking of abandoned vehicles such as RVs. The Ukiah Daily Journal reported that most of what Code enforcement responds to are abandoned vehicles. That’s according to Code Enforcement Inspector Sean Connell, who presented his findings during the second annual report to the City Council last week. Prior to Connell’s report, Rick Johnson says he’s expressed his frustration many times over the RVs he often sees parked near his church. Johnson, who happens to chair the Ukiah Planning commission, says he’s expressing his sentiments as a private citizen. He goes on to say it’s not unusual to see several RVs parked on the street near St. Mary’s that sit there for days. He says he’d like to see the city make changes to the city code that would make RVs cited multiple times a nuisance.
