A big mess on US 101 near Leggett. CHP says a semi-loaded with lumber lost its load earlier today scattering boards across the highway. Caltrans crews–were called to the scene to pick up the wood. The investigation continues.

The Lake County Board of Supervisors is looking for volunteers to fill vacancies for alternate members on the cannabis ordinance task force. There are several categories of seats where they’re looking for help–tribal members, members of the Lake County Cannabis Alliance, one community member each of the North County and S County, and representatives from the Farm Bureau, Agriculture Commissioner, and the cannabis industry, The task force addresses commercial cannabis permitting activities and enforcement. You’ll get a chance to learn the basics of Behavioral Health Services in Mendocino County at an upcoming meeting, The Mendocino County Behavioral Health Advisory board calls the meeting “Behavioral Health 101” and says the goal ’is to educate people about what’s available and answer frequently asked questions about behavioral health. Organizers also say it will also provide an opportunity to air concerns with experts on hand. The session will be on Wednesday the 22nd, from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m., at the Behavioral Health Center on South Dora Street in Ukiah. A Hopland teen is getting a chance to see how Washington works from the inside. Bode Gower is one of two California high school students selected by Senator Adam Schiff and Alex Padilla for the US Senate Youth Program. He’ll spend a week in DC in March with a delegation of 104 young people from around the country, meeting with senators, cabinet members, a Supreme Court justice, and even President-elect Trump. Gower says he’s grateful for the opportunity and plans to use his platform to advocate for youth in rural communities. Gower is a senior at Ukiah High School and already a student leader both at school and as a commissioner on the Mendocino County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission and he founded the first-ever Mendocino County Youth Advisory Council. Participants will also get a $10,000 scholarship–Bode plans to use his to study pre-law and pursue a public service career.
