The City of Fort Bragg wants volunteers for the city’s Emergency Management Program. Volunteers work with the Emergency Manager to review emergency documents, plans and procedures for the city’s disaster preparedness. You would not have any actual decision-making authority but would help those who do. Volunteers get free tuition to California Specialized Training Institute training sessions hosted by the City and can help the Emergency Operations Center during real emergencies. And those hours working in an EOC can be combined with the CSTI courses to obtain an Emergency Management certification through the State of California. See all the application requirements on the City of Fort Bragg website.

Humboldt County is cracking down on cannabis sales to kids. The Sheriff’s Office says their Marijuana Enforcement Team served some search warrants last week after spending more than a month investigating illegal cannabis sales at a smoke shop in Eureka. They say the store doesn’t even have a county permit and state license to sell pot products but during their operation to check it out, a minor working at the store sold cannabis products to an underage decoy. They say while serving the warrants, deputies seized hundreds of cannabis products the store had for sale. So far no one has been arrested but the case will be sent to the Humboldt County District Attorney.
