Governor Newsom has signed an executive order he says could lower electric bills. The order asks for the Public Utilities Commission to look at utility programs that might be costing more than they’re worth and make the most of the state’s Climate Credit, which results in a bill credit for customers twice a year. The governor is also calling for the PUC to review utility wildfire mitigation and make sure they are cost-effective. Senate President Pro Tem Mike McGuire calls the action a good first step in keeping electric rates as low as possible.
