Judicial Council of California has released new renderings of the proposed 150 million dollar Mendocino County Courthouse. When the first set of renderings came out earlier this month, many people criticized the design, saying that it doesn’t fit the site SOuth of Perkins Street in Ukiah. Work on the project should start next year with a planned opening in 2027. The Judicial Council puts the project near the top of courthouse needs across the state. The current courthouse is in poor condition and needs expensive repairs to be brought up to date.

Ukiah is getting $225,000 to repair damage caused by severe storms in late 2022. The IS Department of Agriculture says the grant will also prepare the city for future severe weather. Part of the money will go to a new loader to repair roads damaged by the flooding and resulting erosion. The USDA says other grants are also available for rural and tribal communities with community facilities like water and wastewater systems.
