Crews continue to make progress on the Adams Fire in Lakeport. Cal Fire now says it is 90 percent contained with good progress. The fire led to some evacuations when it started Wednesday but they have been lifted. CalFire says a man from Wheatland has been arrested in connection with that fire. He is accused of using a weed eater in dry grass which is believed to be the cause. The charges are misdemeanors Among other fires –in Mendocino County, the Mullet Fire that started earlier today on Tomki Road in Redwood Valley has been contained after burning less than an acre. In Napa County, Cal Fire reports the Toll fire near Calistoga is 80% contained at 40 acres, with evacuation orders lifted.
The largest fire is in Butte County, where the containment is reaching 50 percent over 3,800 acres near Oroville Dam. Evacuation orders are being lifted but conditions there are said to be changing rapidly. Three firefighters have been hurt and 25 structures destroyed.
Red Flag and Excessive heat warnings are in effect for Lake County into the weekend. The temperatures will soar to as high as 110 degrees and it will be dry and breezy–perfect conditions for wildfires to break out at any time
People across the state are on edge with the heat and fire threats. There’s no relief in sight into next week from north to south. The power grid in California and much of the west is strained but officials say it should be able to hold under the blistering heat that’s driving up demand.
