Former Clearlake mayor Bob Malley has died. His family says he died earlier this month at his home in Tennessee. He was 74. Malley was 74. He was mayor for 4 years from 2002 to 2006. He also served as a Lake County Sheriff’s deputy for several years and owned a small business. There will be a memorial service on June 15th at 2 pm at the Clearlake Senior Center
A man from Kelseyville has been arrested and charged with holding a market in Soda Bay. An employee triggered a silent alarm alerting them to the robbery last Friday and surveillance video reportedly showed a man wearing a motorcycle helmet and taking the cash. Deputies looked over license plate readers in the area and linked it to a motorcycle belonging to the man–identified as Byran Bouchard. Cops say he fit the description of the robber and that a search of his home found Wednesday turned up cash and other evidence. Bouchard was booked on several charges including robbery.
A man who pleaded guilty to setting more fires during the devastating Dixie Fire three years ago will spend more than 5 years in jail. Gary Maynard of San Jose admitted starting fires behind crews already on the fire line, which could have trapped them. The second biggest fire in state history burned a million acres across five counties in July and August 2021. His lawyers say Maynard–who was once a college professor– suffered from mental illness and was homeless at the time and has spent the time since his arrest working on his problems.
