A tragedy narrowly averted as Mendocino County Sheriff’s Deputies are still looking for whoever fired a shot that landed in the living room of a Ukiah home. Nobody was hurt but deputies say an 11-month-old baby and two adults were in the line of fire inside and narrowly missed getting hit. Investigators say that shot was part of a barrage fired from at a vehicle passing in front of the home on Tanya Lane. So far there are no suspects as the investigation continues.

A Mendocino County sheriff’s deputy may have saved a life when he had to use Narcan on a man who apparently was overdosing. The sheriff’s office says the deputy answered a call at a business on East Road in Redwood Valley Monday afternoon where a man was unresponsive in the business bathroom. The deputy was able to administer the Narcan and the man was taken to the hospital. MCSO deputies and staff at the Mendocino County jail have had the opioid reversal drug as part of their standard issue gear for almost 5 years and have used it 19 times since then to intervene in suspected overdose cases. Sheriff Matthew Kendall says the latest case shows that opioid addiction continues to be a serious problem in the county and that Naracn is a vital tool for responding to OD emergencies.

A man from Ukiah is in Mendocino County jail, facing charges of domestic violence. Deputies say they were called twice to a home on McNab Ranch Road late Saturday after calls about a man and woman fighting. On the second call, they found a woman they say was assaulted by her boyfriend, later identified as Russell White. White had taken off, but deputies found him later hiding under a building on the property. White was taken to jail on a $27,000 bond on domestic violence and probation violation charges.

Watch for the wind in Lake County this evening into tomorrow. The National Weather Service has put up a wind advisory until 11 tomorrow morning. Gusts could hit 50 miles an hour, especially on some of the higher ridges so driving a high-profile vehicle or pulling a trailer could be a challenge. We will have some unusually WARM weather too, with temperature records possible along the coast into the weekend
