The Lake County Courthouse complex is going solar. Supervisors have approved a new solar array to power up the courthouse, the District Attorney’s Office, and the courthouse museum. Lake Co News.com reports the county has been looking into high-visibility clean energy projects and thinks this one fits the bill. Funding was appropriated in this year’s budget. Plans call for the array to be built at the main parking lot situated west of the District Attorney’s Office building. Public Services Director Lars Ewing says the country will save on energy costs with the panels over the long run.
The California Earthquake Authority is accepting applications for grants up to $3,000 to retrofit homes. The program is open until February 21st. Income-eligible homeowners may also qualify for available supplemental grants. The amounts vary depending on the region and type of retrofit completed. These supplemental grants, which are available for households with an income of $87,360 or less, may be able to provide up to 100% of the funds needed to cover a retrofit. eIncome-eligible homeowners may also qualify for available supplemental grants.
