Lakeport is reviving plans to annex part of the commercial corridor south of the city, but on a much smaller scale than voters rejected in 2022. Lake County News reports the new proposal covers about 65 acres and 27 parcels. Officials say acting now would allow 4,000 feet of water line and new fire hydrants to be installed while South Main Street is being rebuilt. The City Council voted 5-0 to keep preparing the application, but no final annexation decision has been made.
