Sublime released its latest single titled “Gangstalker,” continuing the roll-out for the group’s highly anticipated return to recorded music. The song is the third promotional track pulled from the California group’s forthcoming full-length studio release.
The release arrives as Sublime continues its revived chapter featuring surviving members alongside Jakob Nowell, son of late frontman Bradley Nowell, who has taken on vocal duties in the group’s current form. The reconfigured lineup has been gradually introducing new material while also revisiting the band’s legacy catalog.
The upcoming album, Until The Sun Explodes, is scheduled to arrive on June 12 via Atlantic Records. The project holds significant historical weight for the band, representing their first collection of entirely original material in three decades, as well as their debut full-length studio record featuring vocalist Jakob Nowell at the helm.
In a statement regarding the creation of the track, Nowell expressed immense satisfaction with how the instrumentation came together during the recording process. “Gangstalker is pure chaos,” Nowell said. “I was so proud when the drum and guitar parts came together the way that they did in the studio. Sometimes you have this idea for how a song should sound in your head and it becomes impossible to translate that into reality. Gangstalker is not one of those songs. It is a frenetic, California tweaker, punk anthem that I fully endorse with my life.”
The premiere of the fast-paced single follows the release of previous tracks “Can’t Miss You” and the album’s title track. The unveiling of the new music also arrives on the heels of the veteran ska-punk outfit making their live performance debut in the United Kingdom during the recent Slam Dunk festival.
