Northshore Fire officials say tough financial decisions are ahead after approving a bare-bones budget this week aimed at keeping the district afloat. Leaders say the agency is cutting spending, draining reserve funds, and scaling back operations at the Lucerne station while trying to stabilize staffing and finances. Right now, crews are mainly responding out of the Nice station as district leaders prepare a possible tax measure for voters next year. The board also officially named longtime Battalion Chief Matt Donnelly as the district’s new fire chief during Wednesday night’s meeting.
