Governor Gavin Newsom will appoint former head of a federal consumer protection agency Rohit Chopra to lead California’s new agency for consumer protections and business regulation. Newsom says appointing Chopra is part of California’s push to protect consumers, especially after federal protections were rolled back. Chopra will be the first leader of California’s Business and Consumer Services Agency, which starts July 1st.
