What started as a reported kidnapping early Monday morning in Covelo turned into a different kind of case. The Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office says 28 year old Raymond Bowes is accused of breaking into a home, assaulting a man, and taking property. Deputies say the woman initially believed to be kidnapped was later found safe and not harmed. Investigators say the evidence didn’t line up with Bowes’ version of events. He’s now in custody on robbery and burglary charges, with bail set at $125,000.
