In Sacramento, state workers are making their voices heard about a bill sponsors say would protect remote work. Over a hundred employees gathered at the Capitol as an Assembly committee gave a unanimous “thumbs up” to Assembly Bill 1729. The bill is a response to Governor Newsom’s recent return-to-office mandate. Proponents argue that remote work saves the state millions in office costs and provides crucial flexibility for families. While the bill passed the committee with cheers from the hallway, it still faces a potential uphill battle at the Governor’s desk.
