A Willits man is behind bars following a joint investigation between the Mendocino County Sheriff’s Office and a child advocacy group from halfway across the country. Authorities say the investigation began in late March when a non-profit organization based in Pennsylvania contacted local deputies. Members of that group had created a fictitious online profile for a 14-year-old girl named “Rosie.” Investigators say Christopher Sironi connected with the profile on March 19th and engaged in explicit sexual conversations and sent identifying photographs of himself, despite acknowledging the girl’s age. Sironi allegedly arranged to meet “Rosie” at the Brooktrails Airport. Sheriff’s detectives were staking out Sironi’s residence on the 1200 block of Tuck Road. and say they saw him, leave, and began walking toward the airport to meet the person he believed was a child. He was taken into custody without incident. Sironi is currently booked at the Mendocino County Jail on charges of sending explicit photos to a minor and arranging a meeting to engage in lewd acts. He is being held on $25,000 bail.
