A SmartAsset survey shows nine of the top 10 priciest cities are in California, with San Jose coming in just behind New York. According to information in the survey It takes about $158,000 a year to live comfortably there, or roughly $400,000 for a family of four. And it’s not just San Jose, places like Irvine, Anaheim, San Diego, and San Francisco are also in the top 10.
